How to Avoid FASTag Toll on Bangalore to Coimbatore Road Trip

Road Trip Guide: Driving from Bangalore to Coimbatore

The corridor between Bangalore (Karnataka) and Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) is one of the most active intercity passenger and commercial routes in India. Motorists traveling this road trip encounter multiple National Highway toll plazas and bypass corridors.

Quick Route Summary

• Primary Toll Highway: Access-controlled National Expressway / 4-6 Lane Divided Highway.
• Alternate Free Highway: Parallel State Highway, District Road Network & Local Town Bypasses.
• Typical Toll Plazas Encountered: 2 to 6 NHAI automated FASTag electronic toll collection gates.
• Scenic Highlights: Agricultural green belts, historic town markets, roadside dhabas and regional craft stalls.

How to Navigate the Toll-Free Alternate Route

To take the non-tolled route, depart Bangalore along the secondary arterial state highway. As mapped in the blue route above, the alternate road diverts away from expressway toll plazas, guiding your vehicle through connecting district highways. While average driving speeds on state highways are slightly lower (50–70 km/h compared to 90–100 km/h on expressways), you bypass all automated FASTag deductions.

Fueling, EV Charging & Safe Travel Tips

Both the toll corridor and alternate highway between Bangalore and Coimbatore have comprehensive fuel stations (Petrol, Diesel, and CNG). For Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers, fast DC chargers (50kW–120kW) are primarily located at branded food courts along the main highway, while 25kW chargers and AC wall boxes are situated at town hotels on the alternate route.
